Thanks go out to the Bailey family from Beckley. They made the 40 and over club as well as the Record page with a very fine 125 carat Amethyst . I had a blast today folks , hope to see you out again soon.

Thanks go out to the folks from Mich. They came in today and found lots of nice smaller pieces,but one really nice emerald. I forgot to weigh it,but in my experience with stones i figure it to be 50 to 55 carats. Not so bad for a mornings work at the mine. I really enjoyed the kids and Tammy had a blast playing in the sand with the young man of the group. Thanks agian to the crew from Kalamazoo

in the picture the green stone is a really nice Emerald as you can see it has a deep dreen color and the redish are rubies which are nice as well and the other greenish stone is florite.

Thanks go out to the group from Pa. Today was Tonys 30 th birthday and his lady treated him and their friends to a day at Someplace Special. They did quiet a few buckets and found tons of stones including one very nice emerald that was in the 5 carat range but very clear and the perfect color. This was an incredable stone and one worth keeping forever.   Happy birthday Tony , hope it was a Special day for you.

thanks go out to Mike and Lee from sandstone. They made a second trip out to the mine and found some reallly nice stones including some Apitite and a really great piece of aquamarine.

Thanks go out to Ben and Becky. Ben sluced 5 buckets and found 1300 carats of gemstones including one crystal that was 110 carats, a nice garnet that was in the 75 carat range and lots of 15 and 20 carat aquamarine,citrine, and fluorite. I think he was most proud of his ruby that weighted in at 45 carats. These guys are regular customers that come out atleast once a week and sometimes more. I iam sure that Ben and Becky have a hefty bag of gemstones worth unimagineable value they have found here.

Thanks go out to Caleb and Kyle and their parents from Ohio. These young men found some garnet , apitite , kyanite and others as well as a good bit of silver. I enjoyed my time talking to these nice folks and i hope to see them again,,,, im sure if the boys have their way , they will come back.    Good luck and have a safe trip home

Thanks go out to the Stoveall famliy. Today they broke several records here at the mine. First find was a whopping 95 carat aquamarine by dad . Then dad found a beautifull 100 carat wishing crystal.

Not to be out done , just a bit later ,mom found a wishing crystal that was 110 carats. Not only did they break 3 records today and win some free buckets, they also made it into the 40 and over club a few other times with different stones including a pretty amethyst that weighted in at 95 carats and one that hit 75 carats.   Their daughter Elizabeth, also made it into the 40 and over club with a 45 carat garnet.

Congrats. Will !!! Will faceted his first gemstone today and it turned out pretty nice. He cut a piece of rough garnet he found here and over the course of about 4 hours, he turned it into a nice piece that he will be proud of for years to come.

Thanks go out to the familys from Iowa . They stopped in on the way to Virginia Beach for a marathon . Trenton found a GREAT BIG emerald here today and im so sorry that i did not realise at the time that this young man had found the ALL TIME record emerald here at the mine. It came in at a whopping 275 carats. Trenton edged out Ben by about 50 carats on that record. Thanks guys , hope your vacations really great and i owe Trenton 2 buckets of ore.

Will was back today and found a bit of silver in a bucket along with a few garnet and a really nice emerald. While will emerald was not as large as Trneton's  , it was a really nice facet grade stone that has some great color to it. Will spent the afternoon using the faceting machien here and has a good start on cutting his first garnet.

Thanks go out to John and his family from Charlotte. While he searched a few buckets, the gals spent time with the horses here. John found a few nice pieces of garnet including one 40 and an even larger 80 carat stone. John also found some silver nuggets that he almost lost .

Thanks go out to Tammy ,Lee and Mike from the Sandstone area, Tammy found a 55 carat stone as well as a 50 carat. She made it into the 40 carat and over club. Lee and Mike both found some super nice stone ,but just didnt quiet make it into the over 40 club.

Thanks go out to Will from Beaver for coming out. Will found several nice gemstones including a 70 carat piece of garnet . He also found a couple of really nice gold nuggets and half an ounce or so of silver nuggets as well. Not a bad day for Will at the mine.

Thanks go out to Ben as well. Ben is a regular here at the mine and has found tons of gemstones. Be got himself a 45 carat garnet as well as lots of other pieces of garnet and emerald. Wish i had all the stones that Ben has found here at the mine.

Thanks to the folks from Princeton that came out today. They found quiet a bit of silver and a gold nugget . The young lady found 135 carats of garnet in just 2 buckets. While she did not quiet beat out the large garnet found last week, i think shes got the most carats per bucket so far this year. The young man found a nice amethyist in his bucket as well as some wishing crystals and a few garnet. Thanks guys and hope to see you out again soon

Thanks to Brooke and her dad , Ray , for spending the day at Someplace Special today. Brooke found some gold and silver as did her dad . They also found some nice Garnet in a bucket too. While it did not quiet beat out the stone found yesterday, it came pretty close. It came in at a huge 85 carats so Ray has nudged out the gals from yesterday for second place so far this year.

Congrats go out to Amanda Lilly of Beckley, so far shes got the largest Garnet to come out of Someplace Special so far this year . Amandas Garnet came in at a whopping 110 carats. Amanda also had an 80 carat Garnet today . That stone tied Tiffany Massie of Beckley , She also had an 80 carat Garnet today. Poor momma ,Carol Dameron of Beckley found some nice stones and some silver and even a gold nugget today, but none of her stones came close to what the other gals found. Better luck next time Carol.
